The Truth Behind The Engadget N8 vs iPhone Camera Saga
Posted by MickyFin in EDITORIAL, NOKIA, Platform / OS, SymbianAs if Nokia’s decision to send out Review N8′s to big sites such as Engadget, TechCrunch, Slashgear, FT, and Reuters first, instead of Nokia enthusiasts, Nokia Loyalists, and Nokia power-users who know Nokia’s devices in and out wasn’t bad enough, Nokia are now starting to realise that their decision was a big big mistake.
With so much riding on the N8, Nokia simply cannot afford to take any bad press on this new Symbian^3, Capacitive Touchscreen with amazing Camera optics device, but in making a mistake in PR, Engadget took it upon themselves to fix, and rig a camera shootout between their N8 Review device, and an iPhone 4. Is this the sort of company Nokia should be sending Review devices to in the first place?
How do I know its rigged? Well, anyone with half a brain know that EXIF data can reveal quite a lot of information about a photo, not only what device the photo was taken on, but EXIF data also shows details of settings of said device, and in this case, Engadget deliberately disabled most of the N8 automatic settings in their shootout with the iPhone 4.
I was going to write in detail about the specifics, but thankfully, someone else has done all the hard work, and compiled a very detailed breakdown in the Engadget rigging.
If you look at the photos from the iPhone 4, they are like you are viewing the world through rose-tinted glasses. See for yourself in the photo below. N8 on the left, iPhone 4 on the right.
Head across to http://shoppaholicdaily.com/n8/ for the full breakdown on Engadgets shameless camera fix, and see the proof for yourselves.
Please share this post everywhere you can, and show Engadget for what they really are!
