Nokia Fills Void in Mobile Market with Two New Affordable Dual Sim Handsets
Posted by MickyFin in News, NOKIANot every consumer of mobile devices are like us geeks, wanting the latest cutting edge functionality on their Nokia handset, there are millions of people around the world who have been crying out for a long time now for a simple phone, one that allows two sim card functionality.
Up until recently the majority of phones in the market place that offer this functionality are that of counterfeit handsets. Clones of Nokia devices are a classic example of this, (N96 clone dual sim shown below) and the only reason most consumers turned to buying and using counterfeit devices was solely due to the simplicity of the software, and of course the dual sim functionality.
Unless they purchased the clone thinking it was the real deal, which happens a lot from what we have seen over on our Nokiausers forums sadly.
Nokia have now legally filled this void in the market by announcing, and now started shipping two simple phones that do just that, but more, and still whilst keeping the price low, and affordable.
Both devices are no-nonsense, inexpensive phones that offer an exceptionally long battery life. That’s up to 43 days standby time and 13 hours talk time on the Nokia X1-01 – or 36 hours if you choose to play music solidly. The Nokia C2-00 offers a still-gigantic 19.2 days standby time, with 5.75 hours talk time. Both devices are aimed at developing markets where, often, a steady and reliable power supply isn’t yet a reality. The daily top-up that many smartphone users in other regions have become used to isn’t always an option in some parts of the world.
Introducing the New Nokia X1-01, and Nokia C2-00. Both these simple to look at phones offer not just dual sim functionality, but dual standby. The latter is not to be underestimated either, as this functionality will prove invaluable to millions of users who want to simply switch between sim cards easily, but at the same time, still receive messages, and notifications based on BOTH sim card accounts.
For further information on these two new Nokia devices, head across to Nokia Conversations, Nokia’s Official Blog. Also be sure to check out the same place later today where they will be going into much more details on the capabilities of these devices, covering music players etc.
Dual SIM, Dual-Standby devices allow users to choose which SIM card to use for calls, messages and other functions, and switch between them easily from call to call. The ‘Dual-Standby’ part means that you can always receive notification of calls and messages on each account – rather than having to switch your SIM cards on and off.
